Use of Medications vs Laser for Hair Growth – Explanation
AGA (Androgenetic Alopecia –Pattern hair loss) affects 96% of Caucasian men. A review which was shared recently recommends Minoxidil and DHT blockers for hair growth and FDA cleared Laser which we have in Clinic for non responders.
Some people simply cannot tolerate Minoxidil or do not want to use it as well as some DHT blockers for hair loss. Some people have used these and don’t find them suitable or helpful. We call these non-responders and they are seeking a hair regrowth solution which is what our FDA cleared lasers are. They should not be confused with red light or LED light which do not penetrate the scalp the same way a cold light laser does which results in hair regrowth.
Topical Minoxidil and DHT blockers are first line treatments.
Low level laser is recommended for patients who do not respond to first line modalities.
